scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Random'/>
25 Random Things About Me.

1. I've only very recently decided to get my Teacher's Certification and teach elementary school for at least a couple years after I graduate. While doing so, I want to go to grad school in the evenings, summer, and winter breaks.

2. I have a boyfriend who loves me, and supports me no matter what. He's on my team, always, and for that I am so incredibly grateful. He's my number one, my right-hand man, my go-to guy. :]

3. College is everything I thought it would be, and more.I love UNT with all my heart and feel like my passion alone could recruit the entire next fleet of eagle freshmen. :]

4. I long to work in a cafe again. Cafe Mezzano was the funnest job I've ever had, and even though it was years ago, I still talk about it tooo often for most people to stand.

5. I wear sunscreen plentifully, especially in the summer. When I walk in the sun from class, I hold my hand up to keep it off my face. I have a tattoo with a peace sign that says Practice Safe Sun. I'll buy you sunscreen if you promise to wear it.

6. I refuse to settle with a career or major that is not something I'm ridiculously interested in. I read books about marketing and psychology all the time now and just can't stop.

7. I talk way too much, and often too loudly. I tend say some things louder than I meant, getting me into very precarious situations.

8. I'm a stickler for good grammar, and misuse of your/you're, etc. It's the perfectionist inside. It takes massive amounts of self-control not to call people out on their mistakes.

9. My dad taught me to love learning, and it's a lesson that will stick with me to the end.

10. I like to collage and make scrapbooks. I'm obsessed with art, looking at art, particularly folk art and contemporary/modern art or photography, but am no good at doing anything else.

11. I've never had a lame-looking bedroom. I spend alot of time in my room, so when I'm here I need to know that it fully reflects my personal style and my mindset. Simple, colorful, organized (for the most part), fun, smart.

12. I really really love kids. I love the innocence, the playfulness, the reality, the honesty. I want to have quite a few one day, and I want to spend plenty of time with them. I get genuinely sad and upset when I hear parents yelling at their children, like the I'm-just-tired-and-I'm-tak
ing-it-out-on-you yelling. I can't stand that.

13. I love love LOVE exploring. I like walking around in nature, random streets, driving through neighborhoods I've never been in, watching people I've never met, snooping around building that look neat or are falling apart. I call them adventures. :]

14. I can't wait until I have my own apartment or house, with my own kitchen. I'm so excited for the days when we can buy real groceries with fresh fruits and veggies, real spices and herbs. I want to make big delicious meals from scratch with Cristian.

15. I'm on an amazing path right now that I know is leading to something even greater. I can't wait.

16. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life, and never will. I think it's a very sad habit. I especially feel bad for the kids who pick it up out of comfort, and think they can't quit. Like my little sister who thinks she "needs" one after a long day. Oh, if only Nicorette weren't so expensive.

17. I'm terrible at lots of "girl-things." I let my laundry pile up forever, I forget to take the trash out, I can't hang out with most girls for longer than an afternoon.

18. I'm apparently Sara's go-to phone call for any UNT admission issues. (She called me just now, for the 2nd time today.)

19. I keep a LiveJournal. I know it's old or whatever, but I still use it for completely selfish reasons. Writing about issues I'm having in so amazingly therapeutic to me and after a stressful day, just putting things into words makes the problem seem tangible, rather than something dwelling inside. I deleted all my friends a while back and basically use it as a diary now. I love it.

20. I want to meet people who care for the planet, like fun awesome music, have interest in art and fashion, are open-minded and fairly liberal... but don't smoke and drink 90% of their free-time, and still manage to give a damn about their grades and learning. It's a rare individual.

21. I regularly keep my dorm room stocked with: Cereal, coffee, Crystal Light Energy drink mixes, bagels&cream cheese, Cambells Soup At Hand, Ramen, Crackers, Pudding, and chips&queso. I get all my napkins, sugar, creamer, mayo, ranch, spoons, forks, knives, --even a bowl, from the cafeterias. I figure I pay way too much as it is for a meal plan, they can spare to lose a few packets of sugar for my morning coffee.

22. I FreeCycle. It's an amazing concept that I only heard about in August. Waco has one, too but I didn't know. It's like Craig's List, but the only rule is it HAS to be free. I've gotten a microwave and an emergency kit for my car. I've given bags of clothes to a family who's house burnt down in a fire. Everyone should join, seriously.

23. Mountain Dew is my favorite soda and has been since '04. I got pretty upset with the new label and wanted so badly to be able to boycott the soda until it was changed back, but after thinking realistically, am seriously considering writing a very angry letter to the Marketing Department.

24. I have an opinion on virtually everything, and love to hear other opinions. If you can open real honest dialogue with me- same opinion or not, you'll instantly earn my respect.

25. I want to travel the world. I want to go on adventures to places I've never even heard of. I want to see culture and art thriving in countries that differ from America. I want to see all of the world, and soon.

Homework, homework, and then some.

I feel like I've been doing more homework already this semester than last.

Luckily, I'm keeping on top of everything.

This semester is going great so far.
I'm kinda worried for next though.

I'll be in Accounting I (Bleh), Environmental Science (Sounds cool for a science, but still... It's science, plus a lab- So, it deserves a "Bleh" as well), Political Science (Should be easy-ish, and not horribly boring.. but nothing exciting or awesome.. so Bleh.), and Psychology (Sweet.)

Overall, not so great.
BUT! It's only 13 hours, which is less than normal.
I took 15 hours both semesters this year, plus took that class over the winter break, plus am planning on taking two this summer (Spanish I and II).

Since I'm an Emerald Eagle I'm supposed to take 15 each semester or they won't disburse my aid, so I talked to the lady in the Emerald Eagle office about it, and she says all I have to do is go tell them when the fall semester starts that I've acquired all these other hours and I'll be able to get it- Awesome.

Financially, things are okay right now.
Waiting on another scholarship check to go through, and then to get my check from work, but no bills for another week and a half, so I should be okay.

Physically, I could be better.
I'm healthy, but out of shape.
I'm terrified to go to the Rec Center and work out though, because god-forbid I lose any weight and look any more pencil-like than I already do. :]
Plus, I'm pretty much too lazy.

I might go swim soon though.. I haven't even used the pool yet and it looks pretty awesome. Hmm.

I'm gonna go ahead and end this one, mostly because I'm tired of typing, but really because anything else I say would probably be pure rambling.

Later!

Starting the spring semester!

So, this whole blog is off to a slow start, but I'm back for the spring semester, so I'm shooting for something every Friday. :]

My schedule is looking pretty awesome for spring.

M ~
12:00-12:50 HIST 2620 (The second half of American History)
2:00 - 3:20 Business Calculus
T ~
8:00 - 9:20 General Psychology
9:30 - 11:00 English - College Writing II
12:30- 2:00 Macroeconomics
W ~
12:00-12:50 History
2:00 - 3:20 Business Calculus
Th~
8:00 - 9:20 General Psychology
9:30 - 11:00 English - College Writing II
12:30- 2:00 Macroeconomics
F ~
12:00 -12:50 History

And basically from 9-5 when I'm not in class, I go to work.
Luckily for me, that leaves evenings a weekends completely free.

This was the first week of classes, and I've got to say: I'm thoroughly exhausted.
I bought a new computer and a beautiful iPod with my tuition refund, so I've been up all night playing with them, uploading my CDs, pictures, creating folders to organize it all,

and of course, facebooking. :]

And, not so luckily for me, I'm broke now- so cafeteria food here I come!

WHICH.. might I add, Maple's cafeteria (Mean Greens) tastes better than ever. The lasagna yesterday was actually pretty delicious. AND! An even better note, since I'm a Clark-Hall-ian and a hippie at heart, I feel obligated to point out the Greenware cups and forks they're using now, Apparently made 100% from plants.

It also seems like a bunch was done over the winter break.
Road work was finally done on Loop 288 (The commercial cluster of everything-you-could-need in Denton) and is looking less congested. New signs up for the buildings on campus, re-painted dorms and new light-posts up.

It's looking fresh.
Looking springtime.

I'm looking forward to this semester. :]

[Check me out on facebook]

Dead Week: Eagle Insomnia

So "Dead Week" has officially come to an end.

It's technically the week before finals,
But a little less technically, the week of chaos.

My last week of first semester classes.
My last week to have actual classes with someone guiding me through the learning process.
My last chance to socialize without feeling guilty that I should be studying instead.

I've shot around a few ideas of why it's called "Dead Week."
Could be the fact that teachers aren't really giving new information.
Could be the fact that more teachers cancel class than any other time.
But really, I think it's the zombie-fied students wandering around wide-eyed hoping to get everything done in what little time is left, and relying more on caffeine than ever before.

Luckily, Student Activities in the Union have noticed this.
So last night, we had Eagle Insomnia.
